The Corona wali "Diwali" Carnival (Day 10-13) 3rd-6th April 2020

Day 10 & 11 - 3rd and 4th April - A Helping Hand

As promised yesterday by PM Modi, in his address at 09:00 AM on 3rd April, a new task was announced - 9 minutes of candle light vigil at 9:00 AM on 5th April. It was a call for solidarity, to remained united as a nation for a greater cause.

When PM raises a call, the entire nation responds. The night of 5th April 2020 turned into a mid year mini Diwali. No body knew why others did it, every one did for there own reasons. For some, it was call of PM, for some it symbolized a ray of hope in desparate times and some participated with a thought that if it would do no good, it would not be any harm either. But I feel, for majority of the people including me, it was a show of solidarity and togetherness, consciously or unconsciously. With the country reeling under the lock down and fearful of the pandemic, it was kind of a reassurance that everybody is in the soup together and it would be collective effort of the nation that would see us through.

However in age of cheap internet, social media and mounting up frustration in times of lock down, people had resorted to all sorts of comments and memes - good, bad and ugly. PM Modi could have cared less. The Print Editor, Shekhar Gupta, wrote a really interesting piece about the Modi's style of leadership. Take a look at the webpage below.

Gulab Jamun - 04th April 2020
On personal front, spoke with Badi Fua (Father's sister) and Naani (Mother's Mother). Elderly ladies, they always showered their love and blessings. While I inquired their well being, once again it was they who seemed more concerned about us. I felt privileged.

Culinary experiments were on the rise, across the globe, in the age of lock down. My wife had attempted "Gulab Jamuns" and then she re-attempted to better the results. And the results were worth the double effort. Take a look. In back ground - blog work in progress.

On work front, I would be having an Office day tomorrow. Looks like we could be of some help to the state in this hour of crisis.

There were other issues which were making headlines - attack on health care workers in some parts of the country and people fleeing from quarantine. These one off incidents mostly reflected the fault lines in our society - economic - rich, poor and poorest; political - pro and anti establishment of which some had permanently permanently to pro and anti "Modi" - the hten Prim Minister of India and the most major one - religious fault line - hindu, muslim, anti-hindu, anti-muslim and the most dangerous "pseudo-seculars".

Conspiracy Theory
While India was fighting the covid-19 disease criss-crossing the fault lines, entire world was aghast at how helpless they were in front of this virus and yet "Peoples Republic of China" has managed to contain the outbreak (i.e. positive cases), the spread (geographies where it spread) and the number of deaths. While initially ~90-99% of infected cases and deaths were being reported in China, the disease had spread across the world in March, 2020. By end of March, China had miraculously recovered while Europe and USA had become the epicenters, helpless against the spread and the number of deaths.

While rest of the world was shutting down in April, China was reopening its industrial and other commercial activities. Stock Markets outside China were in turn moil. Given that health care systems in the western Europe and USA were much more advanced than rest of the world, the way these countries were struggling against covid-19 raised suspicions. Under such circumstances, the virus outbreak just did not seem normal or natural. USA, China, Intelligence Agencies, Bio-terrorism, Economic War - everything was under scanner. More to follow soon.
